Thoughts and Deeds

this is stoopid

Well, we have finally arrived at this point. I fully reject the goals of the 21st century youth. Last night I… Gasp!… Deleted Facebook. Do not worry good friends. I am still here, and deleting my online identity did not do away with the person who was typing in the caricatures and ridiculous abstractions. You see I had this crazy idea as I was sitting there, staring at the blue and white screen: “This is dumb”. “This is my life and it is ending one minute at a time.”

Attention and language is all but devoid in the American psyche. We have the ability to make split second decisions and describe our styles on the fly, yes, we have made ourselves very describable, but we have lost the ability to pay enough attention to listen or love. Furthermore language is now baseless and abstract. Like the paper money that circulates through our pockets, our words are now just words and have lost any representational power or beauty.

This is the truth of things. No one is simple enough to be reduced to a facebook profile page, and yet that is our main form of “communication”. That is LUNACY. I refuse to be a squawking bird, talking just to hear myself speak, even if it costs me some popularity points (in real life or on facebook). Consider this a resignation.
