Truth and Truth
This is a blog about applying the things I am learning. I cannot promise regular posts, I can not promise amazing or even coherent posts. What I can promise, however, is honesty, and authenticity.
What I am finding more and more as I learn and grow is that knowledge is useless, facts are meaningless and logic is pointless unless we allow this Truth to transform us. That is a scary thought, in multiple ways. It is scary first because it means that the bits of knowledge that we have rattling around in our brains are just taking up space unless they change the way we live. Secondly it is scary because we are afraid of what we do not know, and I believe that we barely have any concept of what (or who) Truth is. But that is also the drama, the excitement, standing on the very edge of ourselves, as if on the very precipice of a mighty cliff, staring out at the night stars and wondering at the cosmos and their maker.
For yes, I believe truth is more than a concept. Truth wouldn’t make much of a good concept to me anyways. Honestly when you think about it, it isn’t really any wonder why our postmodern generation is so enamored with pluralism and relativity. Some abstract concept of truth concocted by fallible humans will produce the same result every time.
So now I have refined my original statement and you are coming to see that my attempts at covering my tracks were futile. I began by saying that this is a story about being transformed by truth. But I must apologize. That gives the impression that I know what I am doing, or by reason I will transform myself. This was misleading, and my first foray into this experiment of complete honesty and authenticity will be in saying I am sorry. Let me clarify, this is a blog about the acts of God in the life of a young evangelical. About the wonderful power He has to transform, and about my desperate attempts at letting go of self addictive thought patterns and selfishness.
This transformation will be chronicled by my thoughts on current events, art, books, theology, movies, music, all that good stuff.
So I hope you decide to check back often. I am looking forward to this.
Soli Deo Gloria
